Description
Tender, fall-off-the-bone beef short ribs slow-cooked for rich, savory flavors that make a comforting meal.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 lbs beef short ribs
- 1 onion, chopped
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 cup red wine or grape juice
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh herbs (like thyme or rosemary)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C).
- Season the beef short ribs with salt and pepper on all sides.
- In a large pan, sear the ribs over medium-high heat until browned on all sides, about 3–4 minutes per side.
- Remove the ribs from the pan and set aside. In the same pan, sauté the chopped onion and minced garlic until translucent and fragrant, around 3–5 minutes.
- Stir in the beef broth, grape juice, tomato paste, and Worcestershire sauce. Allow it to simmer gently for 5 minutes to let the flavors meld together.
- Place the seared ribs in a roasting pan, making sure they’re snug. Pour the flavorful sauce over them and cover tightly with foil.
- Roast in the oven for about 3-4 hours, or until the ribs are tender and practically falling off the bone.
- Serve hot, garnished with fresh herbs for an extra touch of aroma and flavor.
Notes
These ribs pair beautifully with creamy mashed potatoes or crusty bread. Make the sauce a day ahead for easier preparation!
