Description

A comforting dish of meatball sandwiches baked with rich pasta sauce and melted mozzarella cheese.

Ingredients

  • Sandwich rolls (cut with one side intact)
  • Cooked meatballs (homemade or frozen)
  • Pasta sauce (homemade or jarred)
  • Shredded mozzarella cheese

Instructions

  1. Start by spraying a baking sheet with cooking spray. Preheat your oven to 400 degrees F.
  2. Place your frozen or homemade cooked meatballs in a large pot and cover them with your pasta sauce.
  3. Gently fold the meatballs with the sauce.
  4. Heat the meatballs and sauce on low-medium heat. Stir occasionally until they are thoroughly heated.
  5. Take a sandwich roll and fill it with 4-5 meatballs.
  6. Drizzle more pasta sauce from your pot on top of the meatballs in each roll.
  7. Arrange the filled sandwich rolls closely on the baking sheet.
  8. Top each sandwich with shredded mozzarella cheese.
  9. Bake until the cheese is melted, hot, and bubbly—about 10-15 minutes.

Notes

Make ahead by preparing meatballs and sauce in advance and refrigerating. Experiment with different cheeses for unique flavors.
