Description

Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1/2 cup warm milk
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 1 large egg
  • 34 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • Zest of 1 lemon
  • 1/2 cup lemon juice
  • 1 cup powdered sugar (for icing)
  • 12 tablespoons milk (for icing)

Instructions

  1. Dissolve the yeast in warm milk in a small bowl and let it sit for 5 minutes.
  2. Combine the melted butter, sugar, egg, lemon zest, and lemon juice in a large mixing bowl. Add the yeast mixture.
  3. Add gradually the flour and salt, kneading until a soft dough forms.
  4. Cover and let it rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 60 minutes.
  5. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  6. Roll out the dough on a floured surface and cut into rolls.
  7. Place rolls in a greased baking dish and let rise for another 30 minutes.
  8. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
  9. Mix powdered sugar with lemon juice and milk until smooth for icing.
  10. Drizzle icing over warm rolls and enjoy!
