Ingredients

- 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
- 1/2 cup warm milk
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup melted butter
- 1 large egg
- 3–4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- Zest of 1 lemon
- 1/2 cup lemon juice
- 1 cup powdered sugar (for icing)
- 1–2 tablespoons milk (for icing)
Instructions
- Dissolve the yeast in warm milk in a small bowl and let it sit for 5 minutes.
- Combine the melted butter, sugar, egg, lemon zest, and lemon juice in a large mixing bowl. Add the yeast mixture.
- Add gradually the flour and salt, kneading until a soft dough forms.
- Cover and let it rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 60 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Roll out the dough on a floured surface and cut into rolls.
- Place rolls in a greased baking dish and let rise for another 30 minutes.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
- Mix powdered sugar with lemon juice and milk until smooth for icing.
- Drizzle icing over warm rolls and enjoy!
