Description

A warm, comforting dessert featuring creamy, custardy bread with hints of vanilla and cinnamon, perfect for any season.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups stale bread, cubed
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup raisins (optional)
  • Butter (for greasing the baking dish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease a baking dish generously with butter.
  3. Combine the cubed bread and raisins (if using) in a large bowl.
  4. Whisk together the milk, sugar, eggs, vanilla extract, and ground cinnamon in another bowl.
  5. Pour the milk mixture over the bread, ensuring every piece is soaked through, then let it rest for about 15 minutes.
  6. Carefully pour the mixture into the greased baking dish.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-40 minutes or until golden brown.
  8. Allow the bread pudding to cool slightly before serving.

Notes

For a lighter option, substitute almond or oat milk for whole milk and honey for sugar. Make ahead by assembling the night before and baking fresh the next day.
