A simple and rewarding recipe for canned green beans, preserving that garden-fresh taste to enjoy all year round.

Ingredients

  • Fresh green beans
  • Water
  • Salt (optional)

Instructions

  1. Wash and prepare the fresh green beans thoroughly, then trim the ends.
  2. Fill the jars with the green beans, leaving about an inch of headspace at the top.
  3. Optional salt can be sprinkled into each jar for added flavor.
  4. Add boiling water over the green beans in each jar, maintaining the headspace.
  5. Wipe the rims of the jars with a clean cloth to ensure a perfect seal.
  6. Place the lids on the jars and screw on the bands until fingertip tight.
  7. Process the jars in the pressure canner according to the manufacturer’s instructions for your altitude.
  8. Depressurize naturally once the time is up.
  9. Cool down the jars completely before storing them.

Notes

Canned green beans store well in a cool, dark place for up to a year. Experiment with herbs and spices for unique flavors.
