Description
A cozy and fudgy dessert featuring rich brown butter for an indulgent flavor.
Ingredients
Scale
- 10 tablespoons (150g) unsalted butter, cut into 10 slices
- 6 ounces (170g) chopped semi-sweet chocolate
- 3/4 cup (150g) granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup (100g) packed brown sugar
- 3 large eggs, at room temperature
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup (40g) unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 cup (60g) all-purpose flour, spoon and leveled
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup (170g) semi-sweet chocolate chips or chunks (optional)
- Flaky sea salt (optional – for topping)
Instructions
- In a medium saucepot, add butter slices and place onto a stove burner set to medium heat. Heat, stirring frequently, until it turns a light golden brown color (about 5 to 8 minutes).
- When a nutty aroma wafts through the air, whisk in the chopped chocolate until it melts and becomes smooth. Set aside to cool slightly.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine both granulated and brown sugars with the eggs. Whisk together until the sugar dissolves (about 5 to 7 minutes).
- Add the pure vanilla extract, cocoa powder, and slightly cooled brown butter into the egg and sugar mix. Whisk until combined.
- Next, gently fold in the flour, salt, and optional chocolate chips, being careful not to overmix.
- Pour the batter into your prepared baking pan and bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until a skewer inserted comes out with moist crumbs.
- Allow the brownies to cool completely in the pan before cutting into squares, optionally sprinkling flaky sea salt on top before serving.
Notes
Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days. They also freeze beautifully.
