Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup cold butter, cubed
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon (for dusting)
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar (for glaze)
  • 1 tablespoon milk (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Mix the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt until well combined.
  3. Cut in the cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Stir in the mashed bananas, buttermilk, and vanilla extract until just combined.
  5. Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead gently until it comes together.
  6. Pat the dough into a circle about 1-inch thick, then cut it into wedges.
  7. Place the scones on the prepared baking sheet and sprinkle with cinnamon sugar.
  8. Bake for 15-18 minutes or until golden brown.
  9. Whisk together the brown sugar and milk for the glaze and drizzle over warm scones before serving.
