- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- ¾ cup granulated sugar
- ¾ cup packed brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 large eggs
- 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt in a medium bowl. Set aside.
- Cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar in a large bowl until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
- Add in the vanilla extract and eggs one at a time, mixing until combined.
- Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients, stirring just until fully incorporated.
- Fold in the chocolate chips.
- Drop heaping mounds of dough onto the prepared baking sheet with enough space between each.
- Bake for 9-11 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden.
- Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for about 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
Notes
Try adding nuts, coconut, zest, or mint for fun variations. Dough can be made ahead or frozen.
