Description

Ingredients

  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups white sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
  • 3/4 cup white sugar for decoration

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Stir together the flour, baking soda, and baking powder in a small bowl. Set aside.
  3. Cream together the softened butter and sugar in a large bowl until smooth and fluffy – about 3-5 minutes.
  4. Beat in the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract until well combined.
  5. Blend in the dry ingredients into the buttery mixture, until just combined.
  6. Roll rounded teaspoonfuls of dough into balls, and place them onto ungreased cookie sheets, leaving space between each ball.
  7. Flatten each ball gently with the bottom of a glass, and sprinkle with sugar before baking.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 8 to 10 minutes, or until just golden around the edges.
  9. Let the cookies cool on wire racks, savoring the heavenly smell.

Notes

For variations, add lemon zest, chocolate chips, sprinkles, or nuts. Dough can be refrigerated for up to 3 days or frozen for up to 3 months.
