Description

Tender, gooey hot chocolate cookies filled with nostalgic warmth, perfect for the holiday season.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups chocolate chips (dark or semi-sweet)
  • Marshmallows, for topping (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy for about 2-3 minutes.
  3. Add in the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. Whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt in another bowl.
  5. Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing just until combined.
  6. Fold in the chocolate chips.
  7. Drop tablespoon-sized mounds of dough onto lined baking sheets.
  8. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are set but the centers look soft.
  9. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for about 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Make ahead by refrigerating the dough for up to three days or freezing for later.
