Description

A cozy one-pot meal that combines ground beef, potatoes, and cheesy goodness, perfect for a family dinner.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 45 medium potatoes, thinly sliced
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/2 cup beef broth or water
  • 1/4 cup milk (optional, for creaminess)
  • Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with cooking spray or olive oil.
  2. Heat the olive oil over medium heat in a large skillet. Add the ground beef and cook, breaking it apart with a spoon, until browned (about 5-7 minutes).
  3. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet with the beef and cook until the onion becomes soft (3-4 minutes).
  4. Layer the sliced potatoes on top of the ground beef in the baking dish.
  5. Sprinkle the potatoes with salt, pepper, Italian seasoning, and paprika.
  6. Sprinkle the shredded cheddar and grated Parmesan cheese over the beef and potatoes.
  7. Pour the beef broth/ water around the edges of the casserole. Optionally drizzle with milk.
  8. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes, then remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes.
  9. Garnish with fresh parsley and serve hot!

Notes

This casserole can be prepared a day in advance and stored in the fridge. Leftovers can be kept in an airtight container for 3-4 days.
