Description

A cozy weeknight delight that combines creamy cheese, tender broccoli, and soft macaroni for a comforting meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 ounces elbow macaroni
  • 2 cups broccoli florets
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups milk
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Cook the macaroni according to package instructions; add broccoli florets during the last 2 minutes of cooking. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the flour and cook for about 1 minute until golden and bubbly.
  3. Gradually whisk in the milk and bring to a simmer, stirring until thickened and luscious.
  4. Stir in the cheddar cheese and garlic powder until melted and smooth—oh, that cheesy aroma!
  5. Combine the cooked macaroni and broccoli with the cheese sauce, season with salt and pepper, and mix well. Serve warm and watch it disappear!

Notes

Make-ahead: Cheese sauce and pasta/broccoli can be prepared in advance. Store leftovers for up to 3 days in the fridge. For extra creaminess, add a splash of cream cheese.
