Description

A warm and inviting coffee cake recipe, perfect for breakfast, brunch, or as an afternoon treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  2. Cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then gently stir in the vanilla.
  4. Combine the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon in a separate bowl.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with the milk.
  6. Pour half of the batter into the prepared pan and sprinkle with half of the crumb topping.
  7. Add the remaining batter on top and sprinkle the rest of the crumb topping over it.
  8. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  9. Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

For perfect slices, let the coffee cake cool completely before cutting. Use a buttered knife for smooth edges.
