Description

A comforting Chicken Fried Chicken recipe served with creamy gravy, perfect for family dinners.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 68 thin-sliced chicken breasts
  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp pepper
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 1/2 cups buttermilk
  • 1 egg
  • 1 Tbs hot sauce
  • Oil for frying
  • 1/4 cup reserved oil from frying
  • 1/3 cup flour (for gravy)
  • 2 cups milk
  • Additional salt & pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pan on the stove until it reaches 325°F.
  2. Whisk together 2 cups of flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together buttermilk, egg, and hot sauce.
  4. Dredge each chicken breast in the flour mixture, then dip in the egg mixture, and return to flour mixture.
  5. Carefully place each piece of chicken into the hot oil and fry for 3-5 minutes until golden brown.
  6. Remove and drain on a paper towel-lined plate.
  7. Add 1/4 cup reserved oil to a large pan over medium-high heat and stir in 1/3 cup flour.
  8. Slowly whisk in milk until thickened, add salt and pepper to taste.
  9. Pour gravy over individual chicken servings before serving.

Notes

Leftovers can be kept in the refrigerator for 3-4 days.
